The Challenge of Chemical Management
Chemical companies manage hundreds or thousands of chemicals, raw materials, and finished products, each with its own regulatory requirements: CLP classification, SDS safety data sheets, PCN notifications to poison control centers, REACH registrations, UFI codes. Without an integrated system, this data resides in separate Excel spreadsheets, disconnected databases, and paper archives, leading to inefficiencies, duplication, and compliance errors.
kemXpro solves this problem by offering a single platform where every substance, every formulation, and every product is automatically linked to regulatory documentation, ECHA databases, and compliance processes.
Substance Inventory and ECHA Databases
Integrated Substance Database
kemXpro maintains a centralized chemical database with comprehensive information for each entry:
- Identification — IUPAC name, trade name, CAS numbers, EC/EINECS numbers, index numbers (Annex VI CLP)
- ECHA Harmonized Classification — Automatic import from Table 3 of Annex VI CLP with hazard classes, categories, H phrases, specific concentration limits (SCLs), and M factors
- Physicochemical properties — Melting point, boiling point, density, vapor pressure, solubility, pH, flash point, log Kow
- Toxicological data — LD50/LC50 values, DNEL, PNEC, ATE values for the classification of mixtures
- REACH regulatory status — Registration status, inclusion in the SVHC Candidate List, Annex XIV, Annex XVII restrictions
- Exposure limit values — OEL (Occupational Exposure Limits) by country, DNEL worker/consumer
Synchronization with ECHA databases
kemXpro synchronizes with ECHA databases to keep substance information up to date:
- C&L Inventory — Notified and harmonized classifications from the ECHA database
- SVHC Candidate List — Automatic monitoring of substances of very high concern
- Registered Substances — Publicly available information on REACH registrations
- CoRAP — Substances subject to evaluation under the Community rolling action plan
Formulation and Recipe Management
Formulation Editor
kemXpro includes a comprehensive formulation editor that allows you to define the composition of products with:
- Components with precise percentages or concentration ranges
- Management of composite raw materials (raw materials that are themselves mixtures)
- Automatic calculation of the final concentrations of individual substances in the mixture
- Management of formulation variants and versioning
- Direct link to CLP classification: any change to the formulation automatically recalculates the hazard classification
From Formulation to Regulatory Documentation
When a formulation is modified in kemXpro, the system automatically updates all related documents and processes:
- CLP classification — Automatic recalculation of the hazard classification of the mixture
- SDS (Safety Data Sheets) — Update of Section 3 (composition) and Section 2 (classification) with notification of necessary revision
- PCN notification — Check whether the change requires an update to the notification to ECHA poison centers
- UFI code — Generation of a new UFI code for each change in the composition of the mixture. The tolerance thresholds in Annex VIII CLP determine whether the PCN notification needs to be updated
- CLP labels — Automatic update of labels with new GHS pictograms and H/P phrases
